Eurowings is a regional airline that is based in Dortmund, Germany and part of Lufthansa Regional.

The airline operates scheduled domestic and regional services for Lufthansa  and uses Dusseldorf International airport, Munich International Airport, Hanover Airport and Nuremberg Airport as its hubs.

Plans were announced to merge Deutsche Lufthansa AG and TUI Travel PLC into a joint and independent holding company to provide low-cost airline operations.

The airline was established in 1992 and was formed by the merging of NFD Luftverkehrs AG and RFG. Lufthansa owns Forty-nine percent stakes of Eurowings and it has call option to acquire the remaining 50.91%.

Eurowings operates services in different destinations. It serves domestic scheduled operation in Bremen, Berlin, Dortmund, Cologne, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Hanover, Hamburg, Leipzig/Halle, Munster, Munich, Paderborn, Nuremberg and Stuttgart.

Likewise, it also serves international scheduled destinations in Amsterdam, Birmingham, Bologna, Brussels, Bristol, Budapest, Bucharest, Geneva, Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Graz.

Additional international destination include London Heathrow, London City, Lyon, Manchester, Madrid, Milan, Newcastle, Newquay, Prague , Paris, Turin, Vienna, Wroclaw, Warsaw, Zurich and Zagreb.

The Eurowings fleet is consisting of five BAe 146-200, ten BAe 146-300, 18 Bombardier CRJ-200LR and two Bombardier CRJ-700 aircrafts. Restructuring of its fleet makes Eurowings a purely jet operator.

The airline accepted BAe type aircraft and CRJ 200 type aircraft. The last turboprop aircraft operated by Eurowings was sold to Swift Air thus end up the turboprop era. The charter department of Eurowings successfully operates all the domestic flights during the football world cup in Germany.

In 2007, Eurowings adopt the Lufthansa design for the interior design of its aircraft in order to give the customers the impression of same standards as with Lufthansa.

The airline obtains its renewed certificates from the IOSA-audits without any difficulties because of the good performance of the airline.

Eurowings is the first airline in Europe that meets the strict standards of safety audit and comprehensive quality required. The number of passenger’s exceed in magical number.

Eurowings invested a total of 750,000 Euros in upgrading the IT system and purchasing two new electronic data processing systems.

The seats of the aircrafts adapted the design of Lufthansa with grey leather seats and the interior color of the cabin is even more like of Lufthansa. Eurowings leased another CRJ 200 jet in June 2008 from Lufthansa.

The aircraft added to the regional carriers and was registered D-ACRR. All BAe 146 jets will be phased out and replaced by CRJ 900 aircraft effective 2009 in preparation for the modernization of Euro wings fleet.
