Dragonair is the operating name of Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Limited. The airline is based in Hong Kong and is the second largest airline as well as a subsidiary of Cathay Pacific, the Hong Kong’s largest airline.

Scheduled passenger service began in November 2003 in Bangkok and subsequently Dragonair started flying to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport. Consistent growth continued in cargo services and began operation in Hong Kong-Shanghai freight route using Airbus A300.
Dragonair became a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific in September 2006. Cathay Pacific absorbed some of the staffs of Dragonair however; there are still many employees who lost their job due to its downsizing.
Dragonair code shares with different airlines such as Air China, Cathay Pacific, China Southern Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Royal Brunei. Code sharing is made in order to expand its services and routes.
The airline’s fleet is consists of 33 aircraft; ten AirBus A320-200, six Airbus A321-200 and 17 AirBus A330-300. The plane’s of Dragonair are mainly white with a red dragon painted on the tail. Under the fron passenger windows the English term for Dragonair is written in dark lettering while over the front passenger windows is written in red lettering.
