Cheap Condor Airlines Flight Tickets

Condor airline is the largest holiday airline of Germany that uses Frankfurt Airport as its main base and Munich Airport as its hub. The office of the airline is in Oberursel, Hesse with headquarter at Kelsterbach, Hesse. Condor airline operates services to Asia, Africa, North America, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

The airline was established as Deutche Flugdients GmbH in December 1955 but started its operation in March 1956. However, Lufthansa took over the airline in early 1960 due to the slump of market and eventually change the name of the airline to Condor in October 1961. It operates 2 Fokker F27 aircraft and 4 Vickers Viscount.

The transition

Enormous growth of transition was made by the airline from 1965 to 1969 in terms of its fleet. Boeing 727 was the first jet of Condor followed by Boeing 707 in 1967 and Douglas DC-8 in 1969. Likewise, three Boeing 737s were added to its fleet. When Condor airline began its service to North America, Boeing 747 was added. However, the operation of Boeing 747 was stopped due to the fuel crisis.

Instead, it uses the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 planes for long-haul flights. In 1981, AirBus A300 planes was added to its fleet. Upgrading of Boeing 757 and Boeing 767 was made during the early 1990’s. The airline became the major player in the charter airline worldwide flying to 65 exotic destinations and major cities.

When the parent company of Condor airline acquired the UK Tour Group, C&N Touristic was renamed Thomas Cook AG as well as the airline was rebranded Thomas Cook powered by Condor in March 2003. During the rebranding, Condor Berlin was absorbed by Thomas Cook AG. However, in May 2004 the rebranding was reversed and the new CEO decided to use the old name of the airline that is Condor.

Air Berlin intended to acquire Condor in September 2007 in an agreement offering Thomas Cook AG 30 percent stake in Air Berlin. However, due to the slowing economies and delays in the approval of merging, the two parties was forced to further review the agreement.

In February 2008, Thomas Cook bought the remaining 24.9% of Lufthansa amounting to 77.19 million euros. Thus, Thomas Cook group that ends the involvement of Lufthansa in the biggest charter carrier of Germany realized the sole ownership of Condor airlines.

The Condor fleet is composed of 34 aircraft such as 12 aircraft of AirBus A320-200, 13 aircraft of Boeing 757-300 and 9 Boeing 767-300ER. Pertaining to the airline’s livery, the word “Condor” is written in blue across the fuselage of the airplane. The Thomas Cook logo is painted on the tail of the plane.
