Cayman airway is the flag carrier of the Cayman Islands that is based in Grand Cayman. The airline operates mainly as a domestic and international scheduled passenger carrier. Cayman Airways operated regional services from Owen Roberts International Airport to Gerrard Smith International Airport. The first international route of Cayman Airways is to Kingston, Jamaica using the BAC 1-11. It was followed by the international service using single leased Douglas DC-6 to Miami in 1972.
The fleet started to expand upon procurement of jet aircraft and Hawker Siddleley Avro 748. The two BAC 1-11’s was replaced with Boeing 727-200 aircraft in 1982. This replacement allows the airline to introduce first class service and strengthen the regional and international capability of the airline. The jet aircraft were replaced with Boeing 737-200s. Further expansion was made by the airline offering scheduled or charter service to Baltimore, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Minneapolis, Detroit, New York, Newark, St.Louis and Philadelphia.
Cayman Airways operates scheduled flights to the following destinations; Cayman Islands, Cuba, Jamaica, United States and they planned future services to Panama and Honduras.
