Bulgaria Air is the flag carrier of Bulgaria that operates scheduled services to 21 countries in Africa, Middle East and Europe. Its main hub is the Sofia Airport in Bulgaria. Hemus Air and Viaggio Air are the two additional airlines owned by Bulgaria Air.
When the Balkan Bulgarian Airlines was dissolved in 2002 the Bulgaria Air was established. The airline started its operation in December 2002 and declared as the flag carrier by the Minister of Transportation and Communications.

To open inter-continental routes and trans-atlantic flights, the airline seeks to acquire 15 new aircraft to expand its operations. Bulgaria Air became a full member of IATA in November 2008.
Bulgaria Air has a code share agreement with Aeroflot, Air France, Austrian airline, Alitalia, El Al Israel Airlines, Iberia airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, MALEV Hungarian Airlines, KLM, United Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.
The key people behind the operation of Bulgaria Airlines were Dimitar Pavlov the CEO, Alexander Kerezov the procurist and Grisha Jenkov the commercial director.
