Brussels Airlines founded the Congolese airline AirDC through its Mauritius based subsidiary Pan African Airlines Leasing Company.
Brussels Airlines owns 49% of Air DC while 51% ownership for its partner airline Hewa Bora Airways. However, the project AirDC was delayed because the Congolese government did not give the required authorization to start a new airline in Mauritius through the Brussels Airlines. In December 2007, one of the priorities of the airline was to join an airline alliance and finally joined Star Alliance.
However, as part of their alliance, the Lufthansa acquired 45% stake in Brussels Airlines with an option to acquire the remaining 55%. Through the integration of Brussels airlines into the Star Alliance network, Brussels Airlines announced that all the flights to Germany would be code shared with Lufthansa as part of the agreement to become a member of the alliance.

Brussels Airlines offers three types of tickets on European flights such as b.flex economy+, b.business class and b.light economy. The more expensive ticket is the b.flex economy+ because it offers full services such as catering and newspapers, while the b.light economy is the cheapest because the passenger has his option to buy on board the snacks and drinks available.
Brussels Airlines continues to offer economy and business classes on medium and long haul flights to Moscow, Africa, Tel Aviv and Helsinki. The airline further improve their services by providing a b.business class to all European flights that features VIP parking space, higher baggage allowance, priority boarding, premium meals and lounge access.
Brussels Airlines called Privilege are also offering frequent flyer program. Passengers who fly with Brussels Airlines, British Airways, American Airlines, Finnair, Jet Airways, Lufthansa and other code share flights of Brussels Airlines can earn the miles to obtain the Privilege program. Recently, the frequent flyer program of the airline was converted into Lufthansa’s Miles and More programs.
