In 1995, British Asia Airways was formed as a subsidiary based in Taiwan to operate between Taipei and London. However, due to low yield British Asia Airways ceased its operation in 2001.
Refurbishment of facilities
To enhance quality service to its passengers, the British Airways built the Heathrow terminal 5 and officially opened in March 2008 by Queen Elizabeth II. However, poor transition into the airlines new terminal arouses different major problems such as cancellation of flights and backlogs of baggages.
The baggage handling system faced some technical problems that caused delays in checking. Despite of the problems in the new terminal, the airline has gained its operation and continued to improved.
Long-haul services to Bangkok, Singapore and Sydney were transferred to Heathrow Terminal 5. Recent developments of the British airways include the new subsidiary OpenSkies that flies non-stop between the United States and the major European cities. In June 2008, Boeing 757 operates between New York and Paris.
