Early History
The airline was established in as a charter carrier Trans-Pacific Airlines by Ruddy Tongg as a competitor to Hawaiian Airlines, it started its operation on July 1946, Aloha Friday, with a single Douglas c-47, a World War II surplus, its first flight is from Hilo to Maui.
Then the succeeding years Tongg’s vision had come true with their flight connecting Hawaii, California and China. A year later it soon attained its nickname “Aloha Airline” and was flying 4 aircrafts in the succeeding year. In 1949 the airline has been approved by then President of the United States Harry S. Truman.
From then on the airline has expanded and became a competitive airline to Hawaiian Airline. Aloha Airline has introduced its AlohaPass frequent flyer program in 1983. After that year the Airline had leased a McDonnell Douglas and inaugurated service with the aircraft between Guam, Honolulu and Taipei under the name Aloha Pacific.
However they have fail to compete with Continental Airlines and was discontinued on January 1985. In October 1985 the airline had acquired a Quick Change 737 aircraft that could be easily converted from a passenger arrangement to all-cargo freighter for evening flights.
In 1986 the airline had started its weekly flights between Christmas Island and Honolulu, becoming them as the first airline to operate ETOPS 737. On February2000, Aloha Airline began its mainland service and flying newly acquired Boeing 737-700’s from Kahului, Honolulu, Kona to Oakland.
Then the airline soon started regularly scheduled flights to and from San Diego, Orange County, Reno, Las Vegas as well as Vancouver. The services that the airline has provided for each and every passenger are undoubtedly unique and astonishing. They are making sure that before their aircraft fly it has passed on a crucial maintenance and quality control.

However due to economic challenges and other problems the airline had to struggle. In 2004 the airline has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, it is an attempt to save cost and remain a competitive airline that is serving Hawaii.
