Cheap Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela Flight Tickets

Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela is an airline based in Caracas, Venezuela and is normally called as Aeropostal. The airline operates international and domestic services in the area of Colombia, Caribbean, United States of America and Peru. Simon Bolivar International Airport in Caracas is its main base.

One of the first South American nations that choose commercial aviation as an effective means of transportation was Venezuela. The French company Aeropostale found out that Venezuela is the ideal link between the South America and the Carribean islands.

Through the effort of the French company, three Latecoere 28s started the first flight of the new airline. When the French government decided to stop the subsidy in the airline, the Venezuelan government purchased the airline.

Although the Venezuelan government owned the airline, French personnel under Robert Guerin continually ran it. Its name was changed to Linea Aeropostal Venezolana (LAV) until after the operation was fully handed to the Venezuelan.  It was only in 1937 when the Venezuelan government secured full ownership of the LAV airline.

Expansion program was enforced in the airline with the purchase of six aircrafts to transport passengers and cargo loads. The first international flights of LAV airline began in 1945 to Venezuela’s closest border Boa Vista City in Brazil.

The transition period

The commercial operation of the airline ends in 1984 because of the government effort to cut the expenses. The company was sold to and privately owned by Corporacion Alas de Venezuela and restarted the operation in 1997. Flights served the United States and Madrid.

Two US registered aircraft was introduced by Aero postal in the later part of 1990 to fly along with fleet DC-9 and MD-83 jets. The airline was sold to a group of entrepreneurs in Venezuela in 2008.

However, the CEO reduced the fleet that was prevented by the Venezuelan government through major changes such as the fare control that kept the airline gains profit.

Again, the airline was sold to a group of Venezuelan investors and undergone restructuring thus most routes was temporarily cancelled. As of March 2009, the Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela fleet is consists of four McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft.

In-flight magazines

Aeropostal offers an in flight magazine called Pasahero or Passengers that was published six times annually. The in-flight magazine is distributed in all international and domestic flights of Aeropostal that covers about 20,000 copies.

It was published by a Hispanic-owned Miami based publishing company, the Playa lens Inc. For more information you can visit their website at http://www.aeropostal.com/aero2009/home.html
